Marcus Hell Squad Book 1 eBook Anna Hackett

I read the first 10 books of this series. The books are short, around 160 pages. More than 1/2 of each book is erotic sex. The rest is an interesting take on alien invasion by intelligent humanoid dinosaur creatures. This is a dystopian world about the human survivors fighting the aliens. The humans are living in a hidden military installation. Each book follows one of the super soldiers and the women they love/lust. All of the men are bulging muscles, handsome, brave, tough, but sensitive. All of the women beautiful, toned, sexy, tough, etc. Each book tells you that in this new world casual sexual hookups are the new norm. The outcome of each book is pretty predictable. I never worried that H/h would not survive and have a HEA.

I kept reading because the alien invasion story line is really interesting. But after more than sixty sexual encounters, I skimmed past them. But since the sex makes up the majority of the stories and the books are short, they are really fast reads. I am now waiting for book 11. Because I would really like to find out how they are going to defeat the aliens who are the only really interesting characters.

Marcus Hell Squad Book 1 eBook Anna Hackett Reviews

Great story, characters, writing, and action! And the sex was erotic without having to be salacious. And it was well placed within the story. I read a lot of books and felt like they were all starting to sound the same. So much so, that I've found myself skimming rather than truly reading. And more disturbing, I've been feeling as though authors are worrying less and less about truly creating something unique. Not this one. My favorite thing about this book was that it was realistic (in a very unrealistic world, of course). Marcus and Elle were real...I got them (their mind set, trepidation, and reasoning behind their actions) and that made me instantly feel invested in them. Their feelings, behavior, and way they communicated with each other made sense given their situation. I find myself constantly rolling my eyes at other books/character's situations and having to just "go with it" to get through to the end. This book was sooo different and pleasantly so. Great job...you've made a huge fan out of me! On to the next one;)
I have to say I enjoy this Authors story plots but I still think these books read a little too repetitive if that makes sense? They're almost robotic each Chapter starts out the same meet the character, run down of what's going on, the who's who in the story, where they came from what they're doing now. Then you have the great conundrum this big mission that comes up and they have to figure out how to execute it with as least amount if risk as possible, but only to end up being a crap storm of chaos and destruction. And you have the main man that's fallen for his girl and wants to go caveman to keep her safe but yet she's the only possible person on the planet that can solve the exact problem they're facing at that exact moment. So she has to go into the heat of the battle and the big man doesn't like it they put up a big fight she says "I've got to do this" to prove she wasn't who she was before the invasion. He eventually caves but they have to have their prebattle roll in the hay then they're off. During the battle the leading lady usually does something reckless ends up almost getting her self killed and the main guy has to save her in return almost getting himself killed both leaving them with a life changing inlightment of how much the love each other. Then we go to the next chapter and it's a different character we read about what he's facing and usually a woman comes into the picture catches his eye and leaves us with a little cliff hanger to find out what happens in the next book. And then it's the wrap up usually consisting of what happened after the characters recovered from the epic battle and they pronounce their love and spend weeks in bed showing each other how much they love one another. Then the main guy usually has a surprise and it's a big get together of the squad and all the people they care for the most and talks of how much they love these people and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe The end. LoL Sorry if that was a bit much but that's my view of this Authors writing I believe she has very good story plots but she needs to change her writing up so badly it's way too predictable I spent most of her books skimming through pages only reading what people say because I knew 90% of the rest was just repeat of what I had read before. If these books weren't for kindle Unlimited there is no way I'd purchase them
